Coltec Aerospace to provide fuel control system for LHTEC engine.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1996--Coltec Aerospace, a unit of Coltec Industries (NYSE:COT), has been named to provide a variant of its generic Full-Authority Digital Engine Control System (FADEC) for the Light Helicopter Turbine Engine Co. (LHTEC) CTP800 turboprop engine. The FADEC, Model EMC35E, was designed and will be produced at Coltec's Chandler Evans Control Systems Division in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Paul Glover, vice president, marketing and programs, at Chandler Evans, said, "This is our first FADEC for a turboprop. We expect the advanced aspects of the CTP800 engine and our fuel control system will enable us to make significant inroads in the market for turboprop engines. Approximately 600 engines per year are produced in this category."

Other variations of Chandler Evans' generic FADEC are in production or development for the Allison 250-C40, 250C-47 and 250-C30R3 engines, the LHTEC CTS 800 engine and the Turbomeca Arrius 2B engine. Chandler Evans' generic FADEC is making rapid market penetration because it can be adapted easily to almost any small engine for a relatively low cost.
