BAYER CORP.

EBONEX CORP.

Bone black pigment specialty products characterized by high masstone, easy dispersibility, low oil absorption, and low cost. Cosmic Black FCG-1 is FDA-approved for food contact.

ECKHART AMERICA LP

Aluminum pigments, in powders, pastes, and granules include refined grades with optimum brightness and sparkle. Large, particle-size aluminum (125330 microns) for metal-like appearance eliminates painting of parts. Granules contain a low amount of PE wax (5%) plus surfactant with superior brightness.

Encapsulated aluminum pigments include PCR silica and PCA acrylic with superior chemical resistance and outdoor durability. Recommended for chemically aggressive resins like PVC or catalytic cured systems.

Resist encapsulated bronze pigments with improved heat stability and little color change to 600 F cause no catalytic degradation of PVC during processing. Nontarnish sparkles and granules in a variety of colors for special effects.

Plasticized pastes of aluminum flake pigments in DIDP or other vehicles can be customized. Products range from extremely fine, high-coverage aluminum flakes to coarser, brighter flakes. Plasticized pastes are cleaner, safer and easier to handle than dry flake powders.

ELKEM MATERIALS INC.

Inorganic metal-oxide powders in submicron ranges for all thermoplastics include Colormax synthetic manganese tetroxide ultrafine powder, which is high in purity.

Two grades of amorphous silica, gray EMS-210 and white EMS-211D, are available. EMS-210 replaces carbon black in gray PVC pipe. EMS-211D, with a color reflectance of 90%, is a partial replacement for Ti[O.sub.2] in some applications. Products enhance stiffness and impact strength, as well as dry-blend flow of PVC compounds.

EM INDUSTRIES INC., PIGMENTS DIV.

Afflair Lustre pearlescent pigments in many colors and particle sizes exhibit good luster, opacity, and chromacity and are nontoxic, heat stable, lightfast, nonconductive, and nonarcing. (See ad p. 341.)

ENGELHARD CORP. PIGMENTS & ADDITIVES GROUP

Color pigments include Harshaw Meteor and Meteor Plus complex inorganic pigments for applications requiring heat resistance and exterior durability; Harshaw organic pigments in a wide spectrum of colors; Harshaw low-soluble cadmium pigments for uses requiring good heat and light stability; Harshaw lead chromate and moly orange pigments for cost-effective coloring; and standard and solvent-free dispersions, which include Harshaw, Aurasperse, Aquerus, and Gallery One.

ENGINEERED CARBONS INC. (ECI)

Line of carbon blacks for coloring, uv protection, improved physical properties, and conductivity. High-performance Arosperse grades provide easy incorporation into plastic concentrates. Uses for Arosperse grades range from cable insulation to geosynthetics. Nonconductive Arosperse 15 thermal carbon black is recommended for low-voltage wire insulation.

EQUISTAR CHEMICALS, LP

Spectratech color concentrates contain no heavy-metal pigments as identified by CONEG. Offered in stock and custom colors for most thermoplastics. Letdown ratios from 20:1 to over 50:1. Clean, uniform pellet size, suited to bulk handling and conveying. Applications include extrusion of film, sheet, profiles, extrusion coating, and injection and blow molding.

Line of high-performance white concentrates for applications requiring non-yellowing characteristics in sub-mil and embossed film and extrusion coating. Formulated to withstand elevated processing temperatures.

Line of black concentrates for applications such as blown and cast film, geomembrane film, and molding that require excellent dispersion.

Concentrates may include other additives such as slip and antiblock agents, uv stabilizers, blowing agents, and flame retardants.

FEDERAL PLASTICS CORP.

FERRO CORP., COLOR DIV.

Geode complex inorganic pigments are heat-stable, light-stable, weatherable, chemically resistant and suitable for coloring most thermoplastics and thermosets. Recommended for engineering resins and rigid PVC. Products include nickel titanate yellows (PY-53, PY-157 and PY-161); chrome titanate yellows (PBrn-24 and PY162); zinc ferrite buff (PY-119); chromeiron-zinc brown (PBrn-33); manganese antimony titanate brown (PY-164); iron chromite IR black (PG-17), copper chrome black (PBlk-28); cobalt blues (PG28, PB-36 and PB-74) and cobalt greens (PG-26 and PG-50). Nickel and chrome titanate yellows when combined with organic pigments provide alternatives to lead- and cadmium-bearing colors.

Ferro is the North American distributor for ultramarine pigments from Nubiola of Spain and cerium red and orange pigments from Rhone Poulenc. Ultramarine blue and violet pigments are nontoxic and FDA-acceptable for use in food contact applications. New Nubix line contains extremely low levels of moisture and free sulphur. Their fine particle size offers easy dispersion and maximum tinting strength. Rhone Poulenc's new Neolor pigments of red and orange inorganic pigments based on cerium sulfide were developed as replacements for cadmium- and lead-based pigments. Neolor pigments are heat stable to 692 F and offer superior light stability and weatherability. They are nonwarping and nonstreaking. Also recommended for use in polyolefins and styrenics as well as a broad range of engineering resins. Pigments currently come in red, orange and light orange. (See ads pp. 346, Cover IV.)

FERRO CORP. LIQUID COATINGS & DISPERSIONS

Liquid and paste dispersions for all thermoplastics and thermosets can include various processing additives. Pigments dispersed in six standard vehicles compatible with thermoplastics, unsaturated polyesters, epoxies, urethanes, and other resins. Also custom systems with specified vehicles. Pigments can include pearlescent and fluorescent types. High pigment loadings (30 to 85%) provide high letdown ratios and maximum tinctoriel strength. Tioxide titanium dioxide pigments disperse easily in a variety of thermoplastics and give a high degree of whiteness, opacity, and tinting strength. Undertones range from blue (FC6, TR23) to neutral (TR60, TR92, TR93, HD6X).

FC6 is silane-treated for low moisture content and ease of dispersion. FC6, TR92 and TR23 are for rigid PVC building products. FC6, TR92, TR23 and HD6X have NSF approval for use in PVC potablewater pipe. HD6X used at relatively high-pigment concentrations in opaque flexible PVC. TR60, TR93 and TR92 are recommended for colored PVC siding, profiles, and polyester gel coats requiring high weathering resistance.
