The mother-daughter writing team present another book on their adopted state in the Rocky Mountains. In excerpts from the 1875 Colorado Business Directory, they identify businesses, churches, societies, schools, and individual pioneers who helped tame that little piece of The West. Political leaders in the territory began campaigning for statehood in 1864, but it was not until August 1876, on the fourth try, that Colorado became The Centennial State. That process is narrated as an introduction. Other support material includes nine pages of photographs from the era, and a concluding chapter on the railroad lines that spread across the area linking cities and serving the dominant mining industry between 1879 and 1880. There is no index or bibliography.
