The Intergraph equipment will be the backbone of School District 11's Wide Area Network (WAN) as well as the Local Area Networks (LANs) that will be installed in all 57 of the district's schools. The new technology will streamline record keeping and information transfer. For example, teachers can input student grade and attendance data and transmit it to the school office at the touch of a button. This school site data feeds into the district-wide information system on the WAN, creating an efficient, centralized data source for everything from student records to financial management.

Teachers will also be able to access the LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area.
