Business/Sports Editors

LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2000

In its first month of selling tickets for the 2000 season, the Colorado Rockies For the National Hockey League team (1976 – 1982), now known as the New Jersey Devils, see .
The Colorado Rockies are a Major League Baseball team based in Denver, Colorado. They are in the West Division of the National League.
have sold 9.5 percent of single-game tickets online using Internet ticketing software from Paciolan Systems.

"We have added literally thousands of PCs to our outlet network," stated Kevin Fenton, director of ticket operations and development for the Rockies.

Tickets are available for purchase online at the official Rockies' site, located at http://www.coloradorockies.com for both Colorado Rockies Spring Training home games at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Ariz. and regular season games at Coors Field Coordinates:

With Paciolan's e.Venue Internet ticketing solution, ticket sales on the Rockies' site are real-time, so fans can access the same ticket inventory on the site that is available at the Coors Field box office or by phone. Fans can select their seats by a specific section or by a specific price level. The e.Venue software utilized on the Rockies' site also allows fans to see what their view of the field will be from each section of the stadium.

"The basic trend is that online sales are going to be an ever increasing share of our distribution network," said Fenton. The trend is consistent throughout the online ticketing industry. According to according to

The Rockies began selling tickets online in July, 1999. In its rookie season of selling tickets on its site, the Rockies experienced a high percentage of Internet sales to out-of-state and international fans. In addition, there was no decrease in ticket sales via the Rockies' 800 number or the team's established ticket outlets. "This suggests that online sales were new sales, not just a redirection of existing sales," stated Jane Kleinberger, president of Paciolan Systems.

Kleinberger added that e.Venue enables the Rockies to retain complete control of ticket inventory, customer service and key marketing data. "Paciolan is not a ticket distributor. We are a software developer that enables the Rockies and other venues to sell tickets on their own Web sites without the high cost of a middleman mid·dle·man

According to Fenton, "the Rockies' organization chose Paciolan Systems over other online ticketing service providers so that we'd have control over our future."
