WHAT: CIT/CCHE Call for Proposals in Research and Education
-- Accepted proposals funded by CCHE -- Technology
            Advancement Group monies and CIT
-- Proposals for up to $300,000 accepted

WHEN: -- Proposals are due either October 31, 2003, or April 23,
            2004
-- Letters of intent are due October 3, 2003, and April 1,
            2004, respectively
-- Proposals that are selected will be presented to the CIT
Board at the December 2003 or June 2004 Board meetings

WHO: Education and research institutions in Colorado, as follows:
        -- Only non-profit and not-for-profit institutions are
            eligible to receive CIT funds
-- The above restriction does not apply to CCHE-TAG funds, so
for-profit institutions may apply for funding under this
            Call for Proposals

WHY: A primary goal of the CIT is to ensure the availability of a
highly qualified workforce for the state's industries which
are focused on technology or utilize technology. CIT's second
goal is to establish Colorado as a center for innovation and
development of new knowledge in technology applications,
        processes, products and services.

The Colorado Commission on Higher Education's Technology
Advancement Group (TAG) goals are similar: to establish
Colorado as the acknowledged world leader in selected
technologies so as to be the preference for conduct of
education, research, product development, and manufacturing in
these technologies, and to bring together resources from
business, higher education and the state to produce a local
technology workforce in line with industry requirements.

Given the consistency of the CIT and TAG goals, CIT has been
charged to administer the monies in the state's Advance
Technology Fund for the Colorado Commission on Higher
Education (CCHE). CIT will match these monies one-for-one
        through this solicitation.
