Colorado Ballet at Vail International Dance Festival.

 Jessica Lang had a sudden vision. "I saw large black piano keys," she says. "It changed the floor in my eyes In My Eyes was a Boston straight edge band that spearheaded the 1997 youth crew revival along with Ten Yard Fight, Bane, The Trust, Fastbreak and Floorpunch. The band and its members were a part of the hot bed that was the Boston music scene in the late 90's and early 2000's. ." In her From Foreign Lands and People, set to Schumann's 13-part Kinderszenen (Scenes From Childhood), eight dancers move the giant piano keys about, dancing amid them, being separated by them, lifting one another up onto them, making ramps and bridges. The result is lyrical, modern, economic (several sections are less than a minute long), and intensely emotional. "The Schumann is great because it changes mood--funny to serious to reflective--from variation to variation," Lang says. The ballet's title is a fitting one for this company, whose members hail from Russia, Japan, Estonia, the Republic of Georgia, Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. The company dances the world premiere Noun 1. world premiere - (music) the first public performance (as of a dramatic or musical work) anywhere in the world
