Colorado's Pinnacol taps head of N.Y. workers' comp fund as CEO.

 provider, will succeed Gary Pon, who recently announced his retirement after 20 years as Pinnacol's CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. .

"Ken Ross can appreciate how far Pinnacol has come because he led his organization through a similar transformation," said Diedra Garcia, chair of Pinnacol's board of directors, in a statement. "And he did so under challenging and complex circumstances."

The terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, occurred barely three months after Ross was appointed CEO of New York State Insurance Fund, whose lower Manhattan Lower Manhattan is the southernmost part of the island of Manhattan, the main island and center of business and government of the City of New York. Lower Manhattan is generally defined as the area delineated on the north by Chambers Street, on the west by the Hudson River (North  headquarters was located seven blocks from the World Trade Center and was nonoperational for three weeks after the incident.

In a statement, Ross said he is delighted to join Pinnacol. "The company is financially strong and its people are passionately committed to customer service," Ross said. "As CEO, my goal will be to continue the success Pinnacol has achieved in recent years as a market leader, a customer-friendly business, and a great place to work."

Ross will assume his new role with Pinnacol in early September.

Before joining the New York State Insurance Fund, Ross spent nine years as a defense attorney, specializing in commercial insurance and real estate litigation An action brought in court to enforce a particular right. The act or process of bringing a lawsuit in and of itself; a judicial contest; any dispute.
