ColorLink, Inc. Hires Dr. Miller Schuck as Sr. Staff Scientist.


BOULDER, Colo. -- ColorLink, a technology-driven photonics company, hires Dr. Miller Schuck, Ph.D. as Sr. Staff Scientist. Dr. Schuck brings 10 years of experience in illumination, imaging and non-imaging optics Non-imaging optics is the branch of optics concerned with the optimal transfer of light radiation between a source and a target. Unlike traditional imaging optics, the techniques involved do not attempt to form an image of the source; instead an optimized optical system for optical  for projection and near-to-eye (NTE (NT Embedded) See Windows XP Embedded. ) applications. In his new position at ColorLink, Miller will develop optics for backlights and projection displays utilizing lamp, LED, and laser sources. In addition, Miller will support 3-D and auto-stereoscopic display research and development, and support the specific optical needs of ColorLink projection customers.

In the early 1990s, he was employed at Ford Motor Company's Scientific Research Laboratories and developed networking for intelligent vehicle applications. During the late 1990s, Miller was an integral part of LCOS startup Colorado Microdisplay, Inc., developing optical engines for NTE applications including HMDs and camera viewfinders. He researched specialty lenses for holographic data storage See holographic storage.  at InPhase Technologies and, most recently, worked several years at Brillian Corporation leading NTE optical engine efforts and playing an integral role in the development of projection lenses and lamp- and LED-based illumination systems for LCOS RPTV See rear-projection TV.  products.
