Color masterbatch adds aluminum look.

A new color masterbatch is said to offer an upscale, trendy alternative to brushed aluminum. Developed by Ampacet Corp., Tarrytown, N.Y., Brushed Brilliance reportedly captures the luster and textural nuances of metal at a fraction of the cost. This is an extension of the company's Liquid Metals line of special-effects color concentrates that utilize its proprietary Formula X PET technology, which reportedly does not require pre-drying and can be fed directly at the throat of the extruder.

Brushed Brilliance metallic colors include Crazy Grape, Urban Teal, Monster Green, Electric Lemonade, Brushed Chrome and Hyper Blue. The company says these effects work best with polished molds and with glossy resins like PET or a glossy grade of HDPE. They reportedly also work in PP, PS, PC, ABS, and nylon.
