Color Blind. Why do we have to identify the ethnic background of some individuals in our industry, as you've done on page 19 of the January 2001 issue? Doesn't it simply add to our nation's problem of discrimination? When I was appointed to my current position, the press release didn't state "the first German/Swiss American to the VP of marketing." I've had the privilege to travel worldwide, and it seems to me that our nation is the only one where the news sources go to great lengths to identify an individual's race. Why? Does it make the majority feel better to say, "We had the first Afro-American, Hispanic Hispanic Multiculture A person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central or South American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race Social medicine Any of 17 major Latino subcultures, concentrated in California, Texas, Chicago, Miam, NY, and elsewhere , etc."? I work with more than 300 fellow human beings, all from various ethnic backgrounds. We do not identify race in our publications, announcements, etc., when speaking of someone. They're all good people, who just happen to come from various ethnic backgrounds. David R. But the public has clearly voted with their feet steadily over the past 15 years.
