Bank of America (NYSE: BAC TYO: 8648 ) is the largest commercial bank in the United States in terms of deposits, and the largest company of its kind in the world.

The transaction will be led by First Republic's existing management and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2010, subject to regulatory approvals. Terms were not disclosed.
