Any lingering effects of the Ashes hangovers should have worn off by 11am today at Stormont, where England begin a month of limited-overs action which also includes two Twenty20 matches and seven one-day internationals against Australia.

Thankfully for an England squad including six of the men who clinched a 2-1 series win over Australia, the Oval success did not stretch into Monday.

"Obviously it's a quick turnaround and the schedule isn't ideal," admitted Collingwood. "In many ways it was nice to win in four days. It would have been very tough if it had gone into a fifth day.

"But today is a one-day international against a very good side, as we have seen in the past.

"We have got to get ourselves up for it and put a good performance in."

England toyed with the idea of sending a shadow side for the 50-over contest before opting to select the same party which will compete against Australia for the NatWest Series NatWest Series is an annual one day international cricket tournament held in England involving the home side and two of the season's touring teams.

A series of usually nine matches are played across England at the seven test match grounds; Lord's, London, Edgbaston,

"Strauss, with the workload he has had as captain, deserves a good break, mentally, more than anything," said Collingwood. Meanwhile, Australia wicket-keeper Brad Haddin has been ruled out of the NatWest series against England through injury.

Haddin will undergo an operation on the finger he broke during the Ashes series.
