Collings puts faith in youth; UNIBOND PREMIER.

DURHAM CITY Durham City could be:
  • The city of Durham, County Durham
  • The City of Durham local government district
  • The Northern League football team Durham City A.F.C.
manager Lee Collings has urged his young side to follow their first win of the season in midweek with their first point of the campaign.

A second-half Elliott Cutts goal was enough to see City's young guns beat Washington 1-0 in the Durham Challenge Cup in midweek and end a 16-game winless start to the campaign.

Durham have been rewarded with another home tie against Shildon or Wolviston in the next round but it is league points that occupy the mind.

Collings said: "It was a great win in midweek, but playing Guiseley will be different.

"They may currently be in mid-table but they have games in hand and traditionally have been one of the stronger UniBond clubs, and they have a good record on the road this season."

Guiseley have won five of their six away games, including a 3-0 win at Cammell Laird For the football team see Cammell Laird FC.

Cammell Laird, one of the most famous names in British shipbuilding during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, came about following the merger of Laird, Son & Co. of Birkenhead and Johnson Cammell & Co.
in the FA Trophy The Football Association Challenge Trophy is an English football competition for clubs playing in levels 5-8 of the English football league system (steps 1-4 of the National League System)  last week, and earlier in the season knocked Whitley Bay Whitley Bay, town (1991 pop. 36,040), North Tyneside metropolitan district, NE England, on the North Sea. Formerly the urban district of Whitley and Monkseaton, Whitley Bay was chartered as a municipal borough in 1954.  out of the FA Cup.

"I have seen nothing so far this season that suggests that, had we kept the squad assembled over the summer, we would have pushed for a third consecutive promotion," added Collings. "That makes the current predicament all the more frustrating but the young lads have been a credit to themselves and the club."

Durham have put in seven days' notice for teenage Chesterle-Street Town striker Josh Home-Jackson, who has scored in four of the Cestrians last six games.

Durham will be at home again on Tuesday against high flying Kendal Town unless the Cumbrians are involved in an FA Cup replay.
