Colleges had pounds 44m 'left over' FUNDING.THE six new further education colleges are sitting on a pounds 44million surplus, it was revealed today. The total was revealed by the Assembly Public Accounts Committee in a report reviewing financial management of the further education sector. The amount had been even bigger - pounds 54million - but reduced by pounds 10million. The committee said the money should be returned to be used in other public sector areas needing funds.
