EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

THE 25 largest colleges and universities in L.A. County enrolled nearly 300.000 full-time equivalent Full-time equivalent (FTE) is a way to measure a worker's involvement in a project, or a student's enrollment at an educational institution. An FTE of 1.0 means that the person is equivalent to a full-time worker, while an FTE of 0.5 signals that the worker is only half-time.  students in the fall of 2006. up slightly from the previous year.

A full-time equivalent student is a fiscal measurement that schools use to determine budgets based upon the number of students taking a full course load.

THE PACESETTER

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES UCLA comprises the College of Letters and Science (the primary undergraduate college), seven professional schools, and five professional Health Science schools. Since 2001, UCLA has enrolled over 33,000 total students, and that number is steadily rising.

The campus is currently undergoing significant renovations. Its Ronald Reagan hospital is set to open this year at a total project value of nearly $900 million. Tourism and retailing are important, and the city has motion-picture, biotechnology, and software industries.  UCLA Medical Center UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. It is rated as one of the top three hospitals in the United States and is the top hospital on the West Coast according to US News & World Report.  and UCLA: Most students. Orthopedic orthopedic /or·tho·pe·dic/ (-pe´dik) pertaining to the correction of deformities of the musculoskeletal system; pertaining to orthopedics.  Hospital is undergoing more than $300 million worth of renovations. Also, a $155 million life sciences building is under construction. Plans are also under way to renovate Pauley Pavilion Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, informally and commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball teams also play here. ; HOK Sport was selected as the architect for the project. Overall, projects under construction have a total value of more than $1.4 billion.

The university is a center for medical and scientific research At any given time, it has more than 5,300 funded research projects.
