COLLEGES are the backbone of business in Scotland, according to according to

The Association of Scottish Colleges' study shows that four out five people believe Scotland's 45 Colleges of Further and Higher Education are the lifeblood life·blood

The survey shows just how highly the general public rates the college sector in Scotland.

And it's now accepted that the contribution of Scotland's colleges to the local economies and communities has never been more relevant.'

, Chief Executive of the Association of Scottish Colleges, said: 'Colleges provide invaluable support to the Scottish and UK business community. 'With almost 470,000 students enrolled each year in Scotland's colleges, we are the largest providers of vocational education and skills training.

'This survey shows the general public is well aware of how important colleges are.

We would encourage government to continue to support colleges financially to meet the aspirations of the Scottish public and business community
