College reveals major revamp.


THE final phase of a multi-million pound redevelopment of West Cheshire College's Ellesmere Port Ellesmere Port, town and district (1991 pop. 78,800), Cheshire, W central England. Ellesmere Port, located on the Manchester Ship Canal near its junction with the Shropshire Union Canal and the entrance into the Mersey estuary, is the principal town of the district.  campus has been unveiled.

The college plans to create new sports facilities See:
  • List of Auto Racing tracks
  • List of indoor arenas
  • List of NASCAR race tracks
  • List of stadiums
  • Velodrome
  • List of tennis courts
 at the Grange centre which will be open to the community out of college hours.

They include an indoor gym and fitness suite and a new football pitch on the playing fields.

Three of the existing six tennis courts will be redeveloped into an all-weather pitch for five-aside, hockey and netball netball

The college hopes to run sports courses for the community.

Meanwhile, a creche will be developed for the use of students and there will be a support programme for teenage mothers.

The theatre will be refurbished to provide an entrance foyer and improved closed-circuit TV coverage.

The college is redeveloping the Regent Street campus following the closure of its Blacon centre in Chester.

The campus, which is a former secondary school, was criticised in a recent Ofsted inspection for its poor and outdated facilities, notably the classrooms and refectory.
