Dr. Karen A. Chandler Chandler, city (1990 pop. 90,533), Maricopa co., S central Ariz., in the Salt River valley; inc. 1920. It is both a residential community and a center for research and technology. Tourism is also important, and the San Marcos Golf Resort is in Chandler.  has been named the new director of the College of Charleston's Avery A·ver·y , Oswald 1877-1955.

 Research Center for American History and Culture. She will lead the Avery Center and make the facility better known to researchers, scholars, and the general public. Previously, she was director of the College of Charlestons The College of Charleston (CofC) is a public university located in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The College was founded in 1770 and chartered in 1785, making it the oldest college or university in South Carolina, the 13th oldest institution of higher learning in  arts management program, where she was also an assistant professor.
