College job cuts attacked by union.UNIONS have criticised a further education college for its plans to make redundancies in the art department. Coleg Menai, in Gwynedd Gwynedd (gwĭn`ĕth, gwŭn`–), county, 984 sq mi (2,548 sq km), NW Wales. Established as a county in 1974 through the union of Anglesey, Caernarvonshire, and parts of Denbighshire and Merionethshire, Gwynedd was reduced in 1996 , says it plans to cut two full time jobs and one part time position on its Art and Design course through voluntary redundancies. Ken Parry Hughes, Chair of University and College Union at Coleg Menai, said: "We're not convinced con·vince tr.v. con·vinced, con·vinc·ing, con·vinc·es 1. To bring by the use of argument or evidence to firm belief or a course of action. See Synonyms at persuade. 2. that the perceived problem in the Art & Design programme area requires a reduction in actual staff numbers. "Management have failed to provide us with facts and figures to show that these redundancies are necessary.
