identiMetrics (www.identimetrics.net) is targeting the education market with its identiFi system. The software allows already-installed ID card and PIN code systems to "talk" to its biometric fingerprint reader Fingerprint Reader
Fingerprint readers such as this machine from Identix provide significantly more security than an ID and password. It is extremely difficult to fake a fingerprint. (Image courtesy of Identix, Inc.). Campuses are free to leave old systems in place while adding an additional layer of security. Or they can bypass use of previous systems entirely.
