College ahead of its class.


A TYNESIDE college has won a prestigious award for the quality of its teaching and learning.

Gateshead College was given Learning and Skills Beacon status Beacon Status is a learning and skills recognition of the excellence and innovation which exists within the Learning and Skills sector for the United Kingdom. The award congratulates learning providers that deliver outstanding teaching and learning and are well led and managed.  by Kevin Brennan Kevin Brennan is the name of several notable people:
  • Kevin Brennan (actor) An English actor born in 1920
  • Kevin Brennan (politician) (born 1959), British Labour Party politician and MP.
  • Kevin Brennan (comedian) (born 1960), American comedian.
 MP, the minister for further education, skills, apprenticeships and consumer affairs.

The award was presented to the college at a special ceremony in London to mark excellence in further education and skills provision.

The college received an 'outstanding' Ofsted ranking in January and invested more than pounds 60m into four new campuses, including learning facilities to replicate real-life working environments.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Brennan said: "This is an outstanding achievement."
