College Students Looking For Entertainment Find Spring Break is Music to Their Ears; Sam Goody's Bandemonium Brings Big Name Bands to the Beach.

Music and Spring Break have always gone hand in hand. All along the beach you can hear a constant stream of bass lines and drum beats ringing out over the waves. It used to be Spring Breakers had two choices if they wanted to hear music on their vacation: they could bring along a stack of CDs and a personal stereo, or they could go to a club for a DJ. But this week in Panama City, Florida, students got a different kind of musical experience, with up close and personal concerts from some of their favorite bands.

As the site for the finals of Sam Goody's unsigned band competition, Bandemonium, the world famous Spinnaker Beach Club hosted some of the biggest concerts of Spring Break. Over a two-day stretch, the Jungle Brothers, Marcy Playground, Fastball and Moby all took the stage for the screaming crowds of college students.

Thousands poured into the club for the concerts. While they were there, they were also treated to performances by some of the best unsigned bands in the country, including Bandemonium 2000 winner, Bobby Llama, from Minneapolis, and 1999 Bandemonium winner, Darwin's Waiting Room, from Miami.

In addition to the concerts on the Spinnaker stage, Bandemonium took the entertainment to the beach as well. Darwin's Waiting Room and the Jungle Brothers performed daytime concerts on the beach. Other beach activities included the popular Pepsi Ball game, autograph signings by Playboy Playmate Kristi Cline, and numerous contests where students could win prizes ranging from Rayovak batteries to a $2,000 Gibson guitar.

But while contests and giveaways are nice, for college students it all comes back to the music. And just getting the chance to dance with Moby will be enough to send many Spring Breakers back to class with smiles on their faces.
