Collabra teams with Microsoft at Electronic Messaging Association 1995 Conference; First public showing of Collabra Share 2.0 and Microsoft Exchange working together.


NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 9, 1995--Collabra Software, Inc., today announced that the company will be jointly sponsoring with Microsoft Corporation (company) Microsoft Corporation - The biggest supplier of operating systems and other software for IBM PC compatibles. Software products include MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows, Windows NT, Microsoft Access, LAN Manager, MS Client, SQL Server, Open Data Base Connectivity (ODBC), MS Mail,  "The Messaging Playground" at this year's Electronic Messaging See e-mail and messaging system.  Association (EMA (1) (Enterprise Management Architecture) An earlier strategic plan from Digital for integrating network, system and application management. Some 2,500 pre-registered EMA attendees will have access to their own account available on five workstations and two servers, enabling them to contribute to discussions and send messages about EMA events and New Orleans activities.

Collabra's and Microsoft's joint sponsorship of "The Messaging Playground" represents the latest in a series of joint marketing and product development activities between the two companies. At last year's EMA show held in April in Anaheim, California, the two companies kicked off their strategic partnership centering around Collabra Share and Microsoft Exchange. The strategy unfolded last summer when Collabra outlined its plan to extend Share's agent technology to support Microsoft Exchange, allowing customers to participate in and replicate forums. The companies have also participated in a number of joint marketing activities and maintain a close technical dialogue.

Collabra Share: Leveraging the Power of the Microsoft Messaging Environment

With Version 2.0, announced in February, Collabra Share delivers even tighter integration with Microsoft messaging technologies including Microsoft Mail and Microsoft Exchange. Collabra Share uses Microsoft's Mail Application Program Interface (MAPI (Mail API) A programming interface from Microsoft that enables a client application to send to and receive mail from Exchange Server or a Microsoft Mail (MS Mail) messaging system. Microsoft applications such as Outlook, the Exchange client and Microsoft Schedule use MAPI. ) to leverage Exchange's new message routing service. And Collabra Share provides direct access to Microsoft Mail and Exchange e-mail directories for membership, administration and authentication.
