The Detroit Regional Chamber realizes that we have what it takes to be a high-tech region. We also recognize the need for collaboration among counties and organizations when it comes to developing Southeast Michigan as a high-tech center. In an effort to do this, the Chamber is proud to announce an initiative that will have a positive impact on both the region's current and future technology environment. The Chamber's newly launched Technology Action Group (TAG) consists of 10 regional leaders who represent an influential cross-section of Southeast Michigan's technology community. These business leaders will work to connect all of the technology-focused organizations in the region into a single, unified force. TAG's mission is to develop and advocate a collaborative technology agenda to help power the economy in Southeast Michigan. During its first 12 to 18 months, TAG will concentrate efforts on three areas: policy, marketing and process. As TAG develops the goals of the group, the Chamber will look to other leaders within the region to serve on implementation and subcommittees to ensure that the objectives of the group are executed successfully. The Detroit Region has top-notch resources and leading technology-focused organizations with whom the Chamber would like to work closely with to accomplish these goals and objectives. These organizations include the Michigan Economic Development Corp., Automation Alley Automation Alley is a technology business association located in Southeast Michigan, U.S.A., primarily in Oakland County. Since its founding in 1999, Automation Alley has expanded to encompass an eight county area that includes business, educational institutions, and government , Ann Arbor Ann Arbor, city (1990 pop. 109,592), seat of Washtenaw co., S Mich., on the Huron River; inc. 1851. It is a research and educational center, with a large number of government and industrial research and development firms, many in high-technology fields such as IT Zone, Smart Detroit and Digital Detroit, just to name a few. As a first step, the Chamber has signed a one-year agreement partnering with Digital Detroit. This partnership consists of co-branding events, hosting joint networking opportunities and benefit sharing between both membership bases. Digital Detroit's mission is to create and foster a community of individuals and organizations engaged in business activities in the high-tech economy. Digital Detroit is a regional organization, which has done a significant job in developing the technology community in and around Detroit. This partnership will allow both organizations to better utilize each other as a resource and connect with each other's membership base. The Chamber is committed to seeing Southeast Michigan and the entire state rise to the top as a leader in technology. We think fostering partnerships and relationships across counties and the state will ensure that we all succeed.
