Colin will follow in Mogga's footsteps.

STEVE EVANS Steve Evans is a common name that can refer to different people:
  • Steve Evans (footballer born 1962), a Scottish football manager with Crawley Town
  • Steve Evans (footballer born 1979), a footballer with Wrexham A.F.C.
believes Clyde have bucked a Scottish football trend of 'jobs for the boys' by appointing Colin Hendry Edward Colin Hendry (born December 7, 1965 in Keith, Moray) is a former Scottish professional and international football defender, and current manager of Clyde.

Hendry first played for local clubs Keith and Islavale, mainly as a striker.
 as new boss at Broadwood.

The Crawley Town boss watched the former Scotland skipper cut his coaching teeth at Boston United, and is convinced he'll put the bite into the Bully Wee's First Division campaign next season.

Hendry replaces Joe Miller, who resigned last month, and Evans insists Braveheart will have the same impact that Tony Mowbray Tony Mowbray, (born November 22 1963), is a former professional football player and the manager of West Bromwich Albion. Playing career
Mowbray played for Middlesbrough, Celtic, and finally Ipswich Town as a tough centre half.
 enjoyed with Hibs.

He said: "It's a move away from the norm in Scottish football where there's usually another run of the mill appointment when any job comes up.

"The best example of someone from England who's been a success is Tony Mowbray, who I know well, and I think Colin will do a similar job.

"When Hibs handed Tony the job, there were those who said 'Tony who?'

"Colin will walk through the doors at Broadwood and bring a freshness with him and I firmly believe Clyde have pulled a real diamond out of the bag in convincing him to sign up.

"I know he had offers to move elsewhere but he'll work morning, noon and night to be a success.

"He's a man who has a laidback approach to life but that shouldn't be confused with his football as he can be fierce, which I've witnessed at first hand."

After a poor spell in charge at Blackpool, Hendry accepted an offer from Evans to join his backroom back·room

team at Boston - and the former Pilgrims boss has nothing but praise for his fellow Scot.

He said: "His strength as a coach is first and foremost the way he gets his point across and the players will enjoy working with him as his sessions are fun, but professional."

Evans enjoyed a spell at Clyde during a career cut short through injury at just 28, and he knows better than most that Hendry isn't heading to Cumbernauld for the cash.

He said: "One thing you can be sure of is that Colin isn't joining Clyde for the money... as he's a man of immense personal wealth, which is obvious when you see the price of the bottles of wine he orders!

"He's a proud man and will be learn quickly about what's required to take the club forward and I've no doubt it won't be long before the big guns start to hover around him."

Hendry's former Blackburn team-mate Kevin Gallacher Kevin Gallacher (born November 23, 1966 in Clydebank, Scotland) is a former professional footballer and now a sports pundit. He is the grandson of legendary Celtic forward Patsy Gallacher.  also believes Clyde will be the perfect platform for his old Scotland international colleague to get his managerial career back on track.

Gallacher said: "Colin is a top name in Scottish football even though he's spent the bulk of his career down south so it's great for Clyde to land someone of his stature.

"It's not as though he's inexperienced as he's already had a harsh lesson in managerial life with Blackpool. This move will give him an opportunity to get back on top and it's the ideal level to allow him to show what he can do.

"He's worked under a host of top managers like Kenny Dalglish Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish MBE (born 4 March 1951 in Dalmarnock, Glasgow) is a former Scottish international football player. He was famous for his successes with Celtic in the 1970s and with the English club Liverpool in the 1970s and 1980s.  and Roy Hodgson, so he'll have plenty of advice to hand.

"I'm sure Colin will do well and it'll be good for Scottish football to have him in the game again."
