Colin nets a record at double.

TROUT TOPICS HOW'S that for a double - Nunthorpe angler Colin Greenwell has caught the biggest trout from SCALING DAM for the second week running.

The retired schoolmaster SCHOOLMASTER. One employed in teaching a school.

fished his favourite location and method, the dam wall dog-leg and sliding float with legered worm. After a five minute battle he netted the 7lb 5oz rainbow.

As the feeding habits of the fish have been less predictable, and with no particular hot spots, those anglers prepared to move around and try different areas have had the best results.

For bait anglers the well proven legered powerbait tipped with a small worm method tempted the most fish, while fly rods had some success, especially with Invicta and Bibio.

In the last week 159 anglers caught 398 rainbows.

A further 750 rainbows have just been stocked..

BERNARD Fitzhugh caught a cracking 13lb 8oz rainbow at LOCKWOOD BECK. The big fish sipped down a size 14 Shuttlecock fished off the dam.

A lot of fish in the 4lb range have been caught, and that should continue for another 480 to 4lb have just been stocked.

While surface sport is good at times, when the weather is bright the fish are going deep - though still feeding.

Teessider Glen Thompson caught 16 in a session, by using a sinking line off the dam, and retrieving lures through deep water. Several of his fish were around 5lb.

GOOD fishing, with a competitive edge.

That's what's on offer at WEST HOUSE LAKES where three evening matches are planned for next month.

Anglers can expect excellent dry fly sport, and as all the matches continue until into dusk, they should include best of the evening rise.

The events are fished from 5.30 to 9.30 next Thursday, July 2, Wednesday July 15, and Thursday July 30. Entry for each match is pounds 18 (pounds 8 to fish and pounds 7 for sweeps).

For further information and bookings for the matches which are open to all abilities, phone David Leak on 07836 330157.

TERRY Sharp of Middlesbrough had an excellent day at LEIGHTON RESERVOIR, returning 18 fish after taking his limit.

Rainbows to 12lb have been caught in a week in which fresh water has made the fish more active.

The rod average is up to 3.4 and lures and Buzzers are accounting for a lot of fish.

RAINBOWS to 13lb 13oz at JUBILEE where dry flies have been effective, especially CDC See Control Data, century date change and Back Orifice.
