NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2002

Reed Business Information (RBI), a leading provider of business-to-business information and a member of the Reed Elsevier Group plc (NYSE: RUK and ENL), today announced the appointment of Colin Ungaro to President of the company's New Product Information (NPI) Division.

Ungaro, who reports to Reed Business Information CEO James A. Casella, will lead the day-to-day operations of the division, which includes 18 print magazines, supplements, directories, webzines and online directories. The Morris Plains, NJ-based NPI Division is a leading source of product information supporting the processing, manufacturing, science and electronics industries.

Before joining Reed Business Information, Ungaro served as President of Freedom Magazines Inc., a subsidiary of Freedom Communications. In this role, he led all aspects of the company's magazine division, which included 12 monthly magazines, Web sites, events, custom publishing and other related properties in the high-tech, healthcare, international business and women's markets. The division's titles included Home Office Computing, CRM, Knowledge Management, Field Force Automation, Clinical Geriatrics, Journal of Gender Specific Medicine, Latin Trade and Mode. Concurrently, he also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Freedom Technology Media Group.

Prior to Freedom Magazines, Ungaro served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Network World, Inc., a division of International Data Group (IDG). There, he led all aspects of this multimedia company, which included an award-winning weekly news magazine, Web site and other integrated media businesses serving the high-tech market.

Ungaro also served in various capacities at McGraw-Hill Inc. These included Vice President of Editorial for the McGraw-Hill Information Systems Division, where he directed all editorial functions for eight magazines, online and loose leaf information services and newsletters in computer, communications, construction and electrical contracting fields. He also held the position of Associate Publisher of McGraw-Hill's Data Communications Magazine, spearheading a reorganization of the magazine and developing an international edition and other new products.
