Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition.


The 59th Annual Coleman Chamber Ensemble The word ensemble can refer to
  • a musical ensemble (This, along with 'ensemble cast' are the most commonly used ways to describe an ensemble though obviously not the only ways)
 Competition will take place April 30, 2005, at Caltech in Pasadena, California Pasadena is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 133,936 and the 160th largest city in the United States. The California Finance Department estimates the Pasadena population to be 146,166 in 2005. .

Among the prizes will be a $7,500 Alice Coleman Award, a $4,000 Coleman-Barstow Award for Strings and a $4,000 Coleman-Saunderson Award for Woodwinds or Brass.

The competition is open to nonprofessional non·pro·fes·sion·al

 instrumental ensembles of three to six players who are under the direction of a professional coach.

The average age of the players in each ensemble must be less than 26 as of April 30, 2005. Any ensemble devoting a substantial portion of its time performing for a fee is ineligible in·el·i·gi·ble

Repertoire Repertoire may mean Repertory but may also refer to:
  • Repertoire (theatre), a system of theatrical production and performance scheduling
  • Repertoire Records, a German record label specialising in 1960s and 1970s pop and rock reissues
 must include a minimum of two complete works of distinctly contrasting character from two different musical periods and totaling at least thirty minutes of music. Ensembles will be selected based on submitted CDs and cassettes.

Applications must be received by noon February 22, 2005. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent by March 18. There is a nonrefundable $30 application fee for each member of the ensemble.
