Cold front for Shefali's marriage.
The outlook is not sunny for the short-lived relationship between Shefali and cameraman Jamie Knights. She is no longer wearing her wedding ring as she presents the weather forecast on Midlands Today.
Friends say the split was amicable and there was no one else involved. They say that spending weeks apart put too much strain on the marriage - 26-year-old Jamie works on the show Top Gear, which takes him away from home, and often abroad, for up to nine months of the year.
The couple met when Birmingham-born Jamie was the cameraman on Shefali's outside broadcasts. Nine months later, in early 1996, Jamie proposed on bended knee. They married in the June in a lavish Hindu wedding, in a 90-minute ceremony in front of 200 gues ts in Shefali's home town of Nottingham.
Speaking before the wedding, 30-year-old Shefali said she felt "engulfed in happiness". Asked why she was marrying Jamie, she said: "I've met the sort of person I could live with. I feel comfortable with J. I feel I could spend a very long time with him. Commitment is important to me."
Shefali declined to comment on her marriage break-up.
