Cold front; YOUR LETTERS.I READ with some surprise an item on the letters page (November November: see month. 7) headlined Warmer Front. While I totally agree that everyone should be able to live in a warm and healthy home, not everyone is privileged enough to own their own home. What about the most vunerable people in our society, the OAPs getting by on a meagre mea·ger also mea·gre adj. 1. Deficient in quantity, fullness, or extent; scanty. 2. Deficient in richness, fertility, or vigor; feeble: the meager soil of an eroded plain. 3. pension? What Ms Chalmers Chalmers may refer to:
Adj. 1. owner-occupied - lived in by the owner; "one owner-occupied and three rental apartments" inhabited - having inhabitants; lived in; "the inhabited regions of the earth" homes in the North of England. What has happened since is that hundreds of OAPs on Merseyside have had their hopes built up with a promise of free central heating central heating Noun a system for heating a building by means of radiators or air vents connected to a central source of heat centrally heated adj Noun 1. ; they have had their propereties surveyed and in some cases start dates given for the work to be carried out - only to be told that the plug has been pulled and this work will now not be carried out. It really is appalling that this New Labour government and, locally, New Labour councillors can give false hope to the elderly and vunerable who are now faced with another cold and miserable winter in their homes.
