Cold comfort; Yourview.


THE decision by Scottish and Southern Energy to refuse to consider reducing householders' bills despite considerably increased profits, is disappointing.

With homeowners struggling to keep their houses warm, the decision will come as cold comfort.

It also brings into focus the company's argument that it would be too costly to bury Bury (bĕ`rē), city (1991 pop. 60,785) and metropolitan district, NE England, located in the Manchester metropolitan area on the Irwell River and linked by canal with Bolton and Manchester.  some of the Beauly-Denny power line underground.

Perhaps social and environmental concerns come second to shareholders' profits.

In many respects, it's regrettable that the energy companies were ever privatised.
