Col books up his hero.Byline: Billy Sloan SINGER Colin MacIntyre was stunned when his idol Irvine Welsh offered to make a video for him. The ex-frontman of Mull Historical Society penned You're A Star, a song for mockumentary Good Arrows, which marks Welsh's debut as a TV director. To return the favour, the controversial author volunteered to help produce a video for Colin's song - featuring Shameless shame·less adj. 1. Feeling no shame; impervious to disgrace. 2. The star was delighted to get the chance to work with Welsh, whose novel Trainspotting became a hit 1996 movie. He said: "I discovered Irvine was a fan of Mull Historical Society. He name-checked me in a magazine article and came to my gigs but I'd never met him. "In 2006 he shot a video for Keane's song Atlantic so I thought I'd ask him to direct mine. Colin said: "It's about minor celebrity and how fickle it is. The lyrics of You're A Star matched it perfectly. "I'd like to do more songs for movies or write a soundtrack." The singer first saw Trainspotting at the ABC cinema in Glasgow...now a top gig venue. He added: "I loved Irvine's book and the film blew me away. You could tell he was a music fan. "In his recent novel - Bedroom Secrets Of The Master Chef - a girl takes a guy back to her flat and he looks through her CD collection. "One of the albums is Mull Historical Society. I think it was a literary opportunity for Irvine to list his favourite bands." Colin is working on the follow-up to 2008 album The Water. It's called Island and he recorded it in his old school, Tobermory Primary on his native Mull.
