The first "American Idol American Idol is an annual American televised singing competition, which began its first season on June 11, 2002. Part of the Idol franchise, it originated from the British reality program Pop Idol. " competition is over, and the stars of the show are making their preparations for a whirlwind national tour. And while the popular program and its contestants are still as hot as the hottest rock star, a special under-the-cap promotion from Coca-Cola classic and CokeMusic.com gives people a chance to win the "American Idol" Red Couches from the show's Coca-Cola Red Room.

The Couches are just a few of the prizes that will be offered on www.CokeMusic.com. Beginning on Sept. 30 and running through the end of the year or while supplies last, consumers can collect codes located under the caps of specially-marked 20-ounce and 1-liter bottles of Coca-Cola in participating retailers, and, by visiting CokeMusic.com and following instructions, turn each into 1,000 "decibels" good for entering for chances to win specific prizes. Three levels of prizes will be awarded, ranging from music CDs to the "American Idol" Coca-Cola Red Couches to experiential trips to events such as Jazz Fest Jazz fest may mean:

Unlike other similar promotions, if consumers don't win a particular prize, their decibels are returned to them for future use. Another unique feature of this promotion is that people will be able to know how many others have entered for a particular drawing, thereby allowing them to increase their odds of winning.

"We have added some game theory to the promotion," says Armentrout. "If you see a couple of mp3 players among the prize items, and one has 800 entries and the other has 600, you can enter to win the one with 600 because your odds of winning are higher. Consumers have told us that they want some control over their odds, and this program helps them do that."

Complementing the launch of the promotion, on October 8th, CokeMusic.com will unveil an interactive virtual game show called "Pop Quiz," through which CokeMusic.com users can use their v-egos (virtual egos, or personalized per·son·al·ize
