Cohesia Graphics Annotation Tool Streamlines Characteristic Management Process.

Integrated "Ballooning" tool accelerates identification and capture of product requirements by as much as 63%

CINCINNATI -- Cohesia Corporation, the leading provider of technology that eliminates ambiguity in the flow-down of detailed product requirements through manufacturing supply chains, adds a new graphical annotation tool to simplify the first article process.

The new Cohesia application features a highly innovative electronic annotation process referred to as "Ballooning". This new Cohesia module allows users to call out important product requirements on an engineering drawing that has been saved in a raster format such as TIFF or PDF. It also can organize, define, and verify critical manufacturing process specifications and tolerances. Features can be identified as key characteristics and automatically loaded into Aerospace industry standard AS9102 and AS9103 forms and reports to support critical quality processes.

Cohesia President and CEO, Jim Kanir, believes the ballooning tool will quickly become a very popular addition to the Cohesia system. "There are thousands of paper-based drawings and documents used in aerospace and other manufacturing environments. Our ballooning tool can be distributed through web-based supply chains and can supplement advanced industry standard CAD Characteristic Identification Systems like BCT."

The new Cohesia "Ballooning" package is available fully integrated in the Cohesia 8.1 product and can import and export with a variety of file formats including Microsoft Excel. The advanced capabilities of the Cohesia "Ballooning" follow Microsoft Windows user conventions for intuitive ease of use and rapid adoption across any supply chain with little or no training needed.

Cohesia Executive Director for Product Management, Hallie Johncox, believes this product addition will accelerate the FAI process. "During our integration and field testing performed live at client sites, we saw First Article Report times cut by as much as 63%. Our customers can significantly reduce the cycle time to create First Article Reports and reduce missed dimensions at the same time."

The Cohesia package is available with full integration to the Cohesia suite of products. A standalone version of the product is targeted for release shortly and will be available through a download on the Cohesia web site www.cohesia.com/ballooning.
