Cohen, Rau, Hutchison Recognized for Contributions to Tax Field.


TEI's Board of Directors voted to honor a former IRS An abbreviation for the Internal Revenue Service, a federal agency charged with the responsibility of administering and enforcing internal revenue laws.  Commissioner, a former International President, and a former chair of three TEI 1. Sheldon Cohen was appointed Chief Counsel of the IRS in 1963, and became Commissioner in 1965, the youngest person ever to hold that position. Since he left government service in 1969, he has had a distinguished career as a Washington attorney; he currently is of counsel to Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.

Chuck Rau retired recently from MCI (1) (Media Control Interface) A high-level programming interface from Microsoft and IBM for controlling multimedia devices. It provides commands and functions to open, play and close the device.

 WorldCom following an extraordinarily active TEI career. In addition to his service as President, Rau represented TEI on the Commissioner's Advisory Group as well as on a congressional task force on penalty reform. He also served in a number of capacities at the chapter and Institute level, including president of the Wisconsin Chapter and chair of the Federal Tax Committee.

Jim Hutchison retired recently from Trizec Corporation. During his nearly two decades of membership, he not only chaired the three committees listed above, but also served as president of the Toronto Chapter, regional vice president, and a member of the Executive Committee.
