Oji Paper purchased five systems in a single purchase order; the order consists of two SmartView(R) Paper Web Inspection Systems and three SmartView(R) Winder Advisor Systems for Oji's paper machines at its Yonago, Japan mill. The SmartView Paper Web Inspection System operates in real time to inspect, categorize and visualize defects on a wide array of paper products helping paper manufacturers to significantly reduce waste and downtime on their production lines and to provide higher quality products to their customers. The Winder Advisor locates the exact position of defects during the paper re-reeling process and automatically stops the winder precisely at selected defects so that they can be removed. The Winder Advisor makes the post-process step more efficient for the manufacturer.

"We purchased and installed Cognex's SmartView Winder Advisor System into a production line that already has a Cognex SmartView web inspection system, and the results were very positive," said a representative from the Oji production team. "Based on those results, we purchased these additional systems from Cognex to help us achieve similar savings on our other lines."

"This large order from Oji Paper is a testament to the lower production costs and higher quality that our customers are able to achieve with Cognex machine vision systems," said Markku Jaaskelainen, Senior VP and General Manager of Cognex's Surface Inspection Systems Division.
