CAERNARFON Town were punished by Caersws plundering two goals in the first half and then spent the rest of the match trying to play catch-up.

But,although manager Adie Jones' team made all the running in the second half, they managed only one goal and went down to a fourth consecutive defeat.

Caersws, who had pulled off a 2-1 win in the home meeting with the Canaries in November, were helped by erratic defensive play when Graham Evans was allowed too much time and space after 11 minutes and squeezed a shot past Town keeper Ian Willcock.

Just before the half-hour mark,Sean Jehu's effort was bobbling goal wards when Caernarfon defender Paul Roberts, in attempting to ret reive the situation, merely forced the ball into his own net.

With Caersws shaping as the more purposeful unit,Hugh Clarke put a glancing header just beyond the post,Jehu tested Willcock with a fierce free-kick and Andy Marfell sliced wide in front of goal. But Caernarfon were boosted in the second half when Chris Moores, sent clear by sub Les Davies , slammed a glorious effort from 20 yards reply after 56 minutes.

Sustained Town pressure followed but they managed relatively few threats, with Carl Rodgers, twice, and Chris Tamm going closest to snatching a point.
