Cofis on revenge mission to Cefni.

Byline: ROB GRIFFITHS

CAERNARFON will head across the Menai Straits Straits: see Dardanelles; Bosporus.  today on a revenge mission for a match that ultimately cost them the title last season.

Despite finishing level on 89 points with champions Nant Conwy and runners-up Ruthin, Caernarfon ended the campaign in third place, having accumulated more bonus points but lost one match more than the two sides above them.

This year coach Ieuan Jones has already said they are treating bonus points as less important and instead concentrating on victories.

And captain Trystan Gwilym echoed Jones' thoughts saying: "It is not about the bonus point, it is about winning games this season, because the division has become that much harder.

"The standard has gone up this season and there are no easy games in this league that you expect to pick up a bonus point in.

"We didn't put the pressure on ourselves to get the bonus point, because just getting the win in the first place is far more important."

Looking ahead to today's match at Llangefni, a match which Caernarfon lost 3-0 last season, Gwilym added: "It won't be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination. It's just one tough game after another this season.

"It's a game we will be looking to make up for after last season's defeat and we will be hoping to avenge a·venge

 that defeat."

Title hopefuls Caernarfon continued their unbeaten start to the season last Saturday with victory at home against Pwllheli.

Gwilym added: "It was a really hard fought game.

"Really physical and Pwllheli front up to us really well. We knew it was going to be tough because it was quite obvious Pwllheli had come expecting to get a result.

"But we have got to take a lot of credit for the way we defended. Pwllheli like to run the ball and we were aware of that, so we defended very narrow."

Gwilym, Dylan Gwyn and Iolo Hughes all crossed for Caernarfon, while Kelvin kelvin, abbr. K, official name in the International System of Units (SI) for the degree of temperature as measured on the Kelvin temperature scale.
