Coffeyville Resources Engages Globally Recognized Remediation Team to Support Community Recovery Efforts.

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. -- Coffeyville Resources Refining & Marketing, LLC has hired a team of globally-recognized, EPA-certified experts - whose experience helped Gulf Coast refineries deal with the disastrous effects of Hurricane Katrina - to help manage the oil overflow recovery efforts in Coffeyville. The team is already on the ground and working in the community.

The team includes The O'Brien's Group, who will manage the overall process, including containment and recovery. In addition, United States Environmental Services, LLC (USES) is providing the operations support, and the Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health (CTEH) will oversee sampling, analysis and reporting for the operation.

The O'Brien's Group, the largest provider of emergency preparedness and crisis management services to the energy and international shipping industries, managed the recovery from the Murphy Oil spill in Meraux, LA, after Hurricane Katrina. The firm provides qualified individuals and spill management team services to more than 150 oil and gas companies and 350 shipping companies, representing in excess of 5,000 ocean-going vessels operating in U.S. territorial seas. The group also assists their world-wide clients with response plans, training, exercises, security and marine technical services.

United States Environmental Services, LLC (USES) is a professional, full-service environmental contracting firm specializing in environmental emergency response, in-plant industrial services, contaminated site remediation, chemical/biological terrorism response, safety training and industrial hygiene. USES offers a very broad field of services and a strong commitment to safety.

Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health (CTEH) is a science-based company which provides toxicology and environmental health consulting services. CTEH was founded in 1997 by Drs. Phillip T. Goad, Glenn C. Millner, Alan C. Nye, and Jay Gandy under a business incubator program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science. The founding partners combine more than eighty-four collective years of experience in toxicology and risk assessment. Dr. Milner is leading the CTEH effort on site in Coffeyville. CTEH specializes in the toxicology, risk assessment, industrial hygiene, occupational health, and response to emergencies or other events involving release or threat of release of chemicals.

Meanwhile, Coffeyville Resources said more than 500 residents have already called the toll-free number established this week to help local residents file claims related to recent flooding and an oil overflow at its local refinery.

Call center operators collect property owners' information and then forward it to claims adjustors. The claims adjustors will contact the property owners to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Operators also will be able to direct callers to local, state and federal disaster response agencies for additional assistance.

The toll-free number, which will be answered 24 hours a day, is 1-800-958-5380. In addition, a claims office has been opened at 900 Hall Street in Coffeyville. The office hours are 7 am to 8 pm.
