Coffee Fest's first Latte Art Competition held in Seattle. (Trade News).


At Coffee Fest Seattle in November, the winner of Coffee Fest's first ever Faema Free-Pour Latte Art Latte art or coffee art refers to designs created on the tops of espresso based drinks by a barista. These designs are usually created in one of two ways and sometimes using a combination of both.  Competition, presented by Atomic Distributing and Tea & Coffee Trade Journal, took home an $1000 top prize, after impressing a large and enthusiastic audience of fellow baristas, and other members of the coffee industry.

After preliminary rounds on Friday and Saturday the stage was set for the final showdown on Sunday Three competitors stood a cup above the rest. Keiko Urabayshi of D & M Coffee in Ellensburg, WA, who competed in fill Ellensburg Rodeo The Ellensburg Rodeo opens every Labor Day weekend (August 31 - September 3) along with the Kittitas County Fair in Ellensburg, WA. Started in 1923, the Ellensburg Rodeo has grown from a local competition among ranch hands to the Professional event of today with over 500  regalia, came in third place. Chen Chin-Pei from Creation Food Co. Taiwan, in the RO.C, came in second. Her double heart design got her to Sunday's finals and her tulip tulip [Pers.,=turban], any plant of the large genus Tulipa, hardy, bulbous-rooted members of the family Liliaceae (lily family), indigenous to north temperate regions of the Old World from the Mediterranean to Japan and growing most abundantly on the steppes  pour on Sunday clearly raised the bar. But it was Zlatin (Zack) Lakic from Caffe Artigiano in Vancouver B.C, who took home the top prize. Zack did the entire process blindfolded blind·fold

The next Latte Art Competition will be staged in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. , Nevada, at Coffee Fest, February 28 -- March 2, 2003.
