The approval by the CBJ clears one of the final hurdles in the permitting process at Kensington." Currently, Coeur is working on a mine optimization study with independent consultants which is intended to reduce the project's capital and operating costs and a development program designed to increase the current 1.9 million ounce gold reserve. A decision by Coeur to proceed with construction of the project is subject to an increase in the price of gold and the receipt of the remaining required permits. Once a construction decision is made, there will be an 18-month construction phase, after which Kensington would be expected to produce approximately 200,000 ounces of gold per year over the initial 10-year life of the mine.
