Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Dennis E. Wheeler, said, "The community of Southeast Alaska clearly supports the project as demonstrated by the many positive letters and testimony at the most recent Juneau Planning Commission hearing. The approval by the CBJ clears one of the final hurdles in the permitting process at Kensington."

Currently, Coeur is working on a mine optimization study with independent consultants which is intended to reduce the project's capital and operating costs and a development program designed to increase the current 1.9 million ounce gold reserve. A decision by Coeur to proceed with construction of the project is subject to an increase in the price of gold and the receipt of the remaining required permits. Once a construction decision is made, there will be an 18-month construction phase, after which Kensington would be expected to produce approximately 200,000 ounces of gold per year over the initial 10-year life of the mine.
