Codina Construction breaks ground on Southern Command headquarters.MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 1996--Codina Construction Corp. broke ground June 1st on a 159,000 square foot facility for the United States Southern Command The United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), located in Miami, Florida, is one of ten unified Combatant Commands (COCOMs) in the Department of Defense. It is responsible for providing contingency planning, operations, and security cooperation for Central and South Headquarters.
