Codian Introduces New Features to Its High Performance MCU 4200 Conferencing Bridges; Enhancements Further Expand Innovative Conferencing Capabilities and Deliver Superior Audio and Video Quality Together With Encryption.

LONDON -- Codian, Ltd., a leading manufacturer of video conferencing infrastructure products, announced today the availability of a new software release for the Codian MCU 4200 series that includes many product feature enhancements.

The MCU software version 1.5 includes important advancements in support for high-definition (HD) video and wideband audio. The Codian MCU 4200 is the only MCU to offer HD continuous presence video and to simultaneously support the combination of both HD and the installed base of standard definition video devices. This is complemented by the addition of MPEG-4 AAC which, together with the existing support for Polycom(R) Siren14(TM), provides wideband audio interoperability with all major endpoint vendors. These features place Codian firmly at the forefront of high-definition video conferencing technology.

Today, video conferencing technology is utilized by many to communicate sensitive or confidential information. In response, Codian has enhanced security by offering H.235 AES encryption. Codian is the only solution that delivers this level of security with no reduction in port count.

With its continuing drive to interoperate with an ever-broadening range of communications devices, Codian has added support for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). This support includes both voice and video endpoints as well as SIP servers including Microsoft(R) Office Live Communications Server (LCS) and Asterisk. With Codian's Universal Port(TM) technology, customers have the assurance that SIP and H.323 devices can be freely mixed in conferences.

The new software release also adds pane placement, conference locking and privacy, streaming to Windows Media(R) Player as well as support for NTP, SNMP and configurable QoS.
