) Wednesday announced the formation of a new software technology group and the appointment of Edward Sharp as vice president, mobile data business development.

The company announced the formation of a new software technology group, based in Tampa, Fla. The software technology group was formed with the addition of four senior software engineers. These software engineers have more than five years of team experience in mobile data switch development.

Prior to joining Coded, these engineers worked together at OCS OCS - Object Compatibility Standard  Technologies, one of the largest developers of public safety mobile data software switches for integration with computer-aided dispatch software.

John Wiggins, vice president of mobile data operations and engineering, stated: ``Coded is extremely fortunate to have acquired the team of software engineers responsible for the design and implementation of mobile data switches for over 40 public safety customers.

``Their experience and knowledge base, together with Coded's existing mobile data communications data communications, application of telecommunications technology to the problem of transmitting data, especially to, from, or between computers. Sharp joined Coded Communications as its vice president of mobile data business development, from RAM Mobile Data RAM Mobile Data was originally founded by RAM Broadcasting Corporation as American Mobile Data Communications, Inc. in 1988[1]. The name of the company was changed to RAM Mobile Data in 1989. RAM Mobile Data was the U.S. Operator of the Mobitex network.  L.P., where he served as executive vice president responsible for all marketing and sales activities leading to the deployment of RAM's nationwide public wireless data systems.

Prior to joining RAM Mobile Data, Sharp served in various capacities with Motorola Inc.'s wireless data division, including the director of sales for federal, state and local government sales.
