Codd Memorial Award Recipients Recoginized.The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA NDIA National Defense Industrial Association NDIA New Doha International Airport (Qatar) ) in March announced the winners of the Col. Leo A. Codd Memorial Award. This award is given annually in memory of the late Col. Leo A. Codd, USAR USAR abbr. United States Army Reserve (Ret.), who devoted his life to the principle that "the best guarantee of peace is a strong United States." Codd, a native of Baltimore, graduated from Loyola College in 1916. He received M.A., LL.M LL.M Legum Magister (Master of Laws) ., and L.H.D. degrees from Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C. For 40 years, from 1923 until his retirement 1963, he was a guiding force in the development of the American Ordnance Association (AOA AOA American Optometric Association; American Orthopsychiatric Association; American Osteopathic Association. AOA 1 American Orthopaedic Association 2 American Osteopathic Association, see there ) devoted to peace through industrial preparedness for defense. The AOA was eventually renamed the American Defense Preparedness Association (ADPA ADPA American Defense Preparedness Association (now part of NDIA) ADPA African Diamond Producers Association ADPA Adipic Acid ADPA Action pour le Developpement en Afrique ADPA Airlock Depressurization Pump Assembly ), and then in 1997, it merged with the National Security Industrial Association (NSIA NSIA National Security Industrial Association NSIA National Snow Industries Association NSIA Northwest Sportfishing Industry Association NSIA Nevada Self Insurers Association ) to form a new organization-NDIA. Codd, who was a ROTC graduate himSelf, was a strong supporter of the ROTC Program until his death in 1971. Respectfully, the NDIA board of directors and trustees deem it appropriate that his memory be honored. Recipients of the award are selected from junior officers (nor above the rank of major/lieutenant commander) who are instructors in the ROTC program across the country. Each of the three prizes consist of a U.S. Savings Bond Savings bond A government bond issued in face value denominations from $50 to $10,000, with local and state tax-free interest and semiannually adjusted interest rates. savings bond A nonmarketable security issued by the U.S. in the following denominations: First Place--$500 Second Place--$400 Third Place--$300 Each recipient will also receive a certificate of recognition and a complimentary one-year membership to NDIA.
