Coca-Cola HBC May Close Irish Warehouses.5 June 2009 - Bottler Coca-Cola HBC Despite its plainly American name (the company's full name is Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company), this Athens, Greece corporation is owned by three Greek-Cypriot families and has the exclusive right to produce under the Coca-Cola brand name in 27 countries. It was reported that after a review of the company's operations in Ireland, it found out that costs were exceptionally high compared to other countries. Coca-Cola HBC may seek to outsource its warehousing and distribution operations. Coca-Cola HBC stressed that no final decision has yet been made and management is beginning a consultation process with unions. Coca-Cola HBC currently employs 1,250 people in Ireland. |
