Cobra Golf announces plans to introduce the next generation of its number-one selling King Cobra irons.

CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 1996--The leading manufacturer of oversize irons announced today plans to introduce the next generation of the King Cobra oversize irons.

The popular King Cobra oversize irons broke new ground as the golf markets' first successful oversize irons. Since their introduction in 1992, Cobra has enjoyed exponential sales growth and has become the number-one iron sales leader. Now, oversize irons have become standard in the golf equipment market.

"The King Cobra irons have continued to lead the market, which is extremely exciting given that our irons have been in the market for quite some time," said Mark McClure, president and chief executive officer of Cobra Golf. "I believe that the outstanding performance of the King Cobra irons and great word-of-mouth reviews lead this strong sales activity."

"We have now developed a new iron that we feel performs better than any other iron on the market," added McClure. "In September, our tradition of innovation will continue with the introduction of the next generation of King Cobra irons."

Cobra designers have been developing the successor to the King Cobra iron for over four years. During this time, 90 variations of King Cobra club heads were designed, scrutinized, and subject to extensive robotic and player testing. Over one million shots were hit with the prototypes to determine the optimum launch angle, spin rates, trajectory, distance and the best feel. Now, Cobra is ready to launch a superior iron that significantly plays better, feels better, and creates longer, straighter golf shots.

Cobra Golf designs, manufactures and markets high-quality golf clubs principally for the premium-priced game improvements segment of the golf equipment market. Cobra Golf's primary focus is on oversize irons and titanium metalwoods marketed and sold under the King Cobra(R) brand name.
