Cobalt sees past as its future.


The Town of Cobalt is set to enhance its tourism profile with some help from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is a division of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines in the Canadian province of Ontario, whose purpose is to provide funding and program support to foster economic development in the economically disadvantaged Northern Ontario region.  Corporation (NOHFC NOHFC Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (Government of Ontario, Canada) ).

The province has agreed to chip in $1,102,520 toward the development of the Cobalt Historic Mining Camp.

"Cobalt's rich mining history makes it a perfect venue for this project that will attract more visitors, boost the local economy and help preserve our heritage," Minister of Natural Resources David Ramsay David Ramsay may refer to:

 said in a news release. "This undertaking corresponds with the vision and long-term objectives of the Northern Prosperity Plan, which has laid the foundation for hope and prosperity in the North."

Cobalt is one of only three industrial historic districts in the country.

The NOHFC investment will help develop feature attractions such as a welcome centre, a Great Canadian Mine Show, a Mining Museum and a Bunker Military Museum.
