Coatings science and technology course offered by Cal Poly State University.

The Polymers and Coatings program at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, has scheduled a short course on polymers and coatings science to be held at the university on February 14-18, 2005. The one-week course will cover aspects of coating and polymer technologies including resin chemistry, pigments and fillers, nanoparticles, additives, coating application aspects, and rheology, with an emphasis on liquid coatings. Academic and industrial experts will address both fundamental and application aspects. Other coatings technologies, such as powder and UV coatings, will be compared and contrasted with traditional liquid coatings. In addition, the VOC and air quality aspects of coatings will be discussed by both industry and government regulatory agencies. Participants are expected to have had some exposure to the coatings field along with working knowledge in chemistry and other sciences.
